Hickory Hills

It’s not often one gets to enjoy a combination of ‘the best of both worlds’. Peanut butter and jelly, children and tax deductions, mountains overlooking the ocean, or retirement in the Bahamas – maybe. However what about the rest of the time? What about the time in between the occasional sandwich, the time while we’re with our children, or the time prior to retirement? Shouldn’t our place of refuge be one where we can relax, slow down, enjoy life, hang out with neighbors, and still have the amenities we expect and require?

Enter Hickory Hills, a place where the city meets all of the comforts and joys of a hometown atmosphere. Located in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, just southeast of Lee’s Summit and a short drive south on 50 Hwy or 150 HWY, this modest sized community has become a beacon for busy professionals and their families wishing to slow down a bit while still staying connected to mainstream amenities.

You’ll find restaurants featuring hometown cooking, incredible BBQ, and a family run pizza shop as well as international cuisine alongside mainstream sandwich and burger joints. Grocery stores are definitely not lacking and there’s plenty to choose from in the way of entertainment from live bands and classic car shows nearly every weekend, to the yearly county fair hosted right here in the historic downtown area. The fair includes carnival rides for the children, vendor booths, old school country or modern day bands, and rodeos. Enjoy Halloween with a haunted hayride (but not too scary!) by the city lake topped off with grilled hotdogs and hot chocolate for the children.

For those that like to stay fit, there’s a wide range of children and adult sports available including softball, volleyball, dodge ball, and swimming. Also available are adult classes with a host of categories to choose from regardless of your interest. This city has also been extremely proactive in adding more walking trails to connect its many parks, including a planned connection to Missouri’s famous KD Trail which will eventually pass through the downtown area to connect with Lee’s Summit and into Kansas City.
In short, it’s a place much like what many of us grew up watching on TV. It’s the place where we always wanted to raise our families or retire to. It’s the place we always wanted to call home.

All of this comes standard within the tucked away and secluded Hickory Hills neighborhood located just within the city limits. Estate lots, a wide variety of plans including wide open ranch/reverse plans or incredibly spacious two stories, the ability to construct architecturally appropriate detached storage buildings, and a recently approved city park just a stone’s throw away makes this neighborhood one of Kansas City’s best kept secrets priced from $230,000 - $400,000.

In addition, future walking trails will connect three nearby city parks. Enjoy golf? Just up the road. Need to shop? It’s only 20 minutes or so away either direction along with hospitals, more restaurants, more parks, and even more entertainment.

After a local bank assumed ownership and began making immediate improvements toward the success of its current and future residents by making investments in not only just the aesthetics of the community, but also by meeting with the city, local business owners, nearby residents, and builders, this once hidden gem has now become the hottest selling new home community in Pleasant Hill, with five homes currently under construction, including three homes that were pre-sold. Two of the top builders in the area were recruited to construct new plans with an eye toward energy efficiency and green attributes to signify these higher standards for Hickory Hills.

To learn more about this booming hometown community, please visit us by taking 50 Hwy or 150 Hwy south on 7 Hwy into Pleasant Hill to Country Club Dr, east to Mulberry Dr, north around a few curves into the new construction area of Hickory Hills straight ahead.
